Summer Programs

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Hello All,

Yet again, I apologize for not keeping up with my blogging duties. Starting next week, our summer program series begins with the first installment of “7 Weeks, 7 Wars, 7 Objects: Treasures from the WVM Collection.” Each program in the series will feature 7 previously unseen objects from our artifact collection. While there is an incredible amount of objects currently on display in our galleries, there are MANY more in our storage areas. This is the perfect chance to learn more about our collection and  Wisconsin’s role in military conflicts from the Civil War through the Iraq Wars. The first talk on June 7 highlights the Civil War. Curator of Collections of Bill Brewster will make the presentation, beginning at 11am. See the “Museum Programs” tab on the Foundation website for more information.

We also have two book signings this summer. On Friday, June 8, Wisconsin author Arthur Rathburn will present his latest book, Friends Don’t Quit: A True Story of Love and Loyalty in Wartime Germany. Arthur is a great writer and an even better speaker - I encourage all of you to attend. He will be selling and signing his books following the event. The next Friday, June 15, author Wayne Mutza will discuss Army aviators in Vietnam. Mutza has published over a dozen books and will sell and sign several of them following the talk. Mutza is well-versed in all topics related to Vietnam, especially aviation. Both talks on June 8 and June 15 begin at noon.
